Phillip Kovats is a seasoned and award-winning audio professional with over 25 years of experience in the gaming industry. Beginning his career in sound design and mixing for film and television, he transitioned to video game audio in 1999. After working on titles like Spider-Man 2 and God of War while at Technicolor Interactive, Phillip joined Sony Interactive Entertainment and PlayStation Studios in 2006, where he helped shape the sound direction for the God of War and Uncharted franchises. He later became the audio lead at Naughty Dog, directing the soundtracks to the highly acclaimed games The Last of Us and Uncharted 4. Since 2018, Phillip has been the Senior Director of Sound for PlayStation Studios, overseeing global sound talent, operations, and creative direction. His work spans titles such as Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, and Spider-Man, where he continuously pushes the boundaries of immersive and interactive audio. Phillip’s collaborative and “People First” approach has earned his team numerous industry awards, including BAFTA, AIAIS, G.A.N.G. and MPSE honors, as he strives to enhance the quality of both game audio and the creative process.
