Stan Mathabane
Stan Mathabane is a sound designer-composer-multi instrumentalist-actor-poet in NYC, by-way of Portland, OR, the coastal opposite of their birthplace, North Carolina.
Their recent design and performance credits include A Thousand Ways (Dublin Theatre Festival + international tour), Jazz Singer at Abrons Arts Center (off-broadway), The White Dress (Access Theater and The American Theatre of Actors), and A Dream Play at McCarter Theatre (regional).
While living in New York City they created in the Theater world and beyond. Working full-time as a Stage Manager at Rockwood Music Hall in the Lower East Side; Audio-Engineering for local and touring artists at Key & Needle Music Studio in Brooklyn; performing and recording with their band “Nathan Bajar” (signed to L.A based Label – “In Real Life”); DJing parties in Brooklyn; and performing their original compositions at venues around the Greater Northeast Area under their alias “SunSon”.
Stan also serves as Executive Director of their own Music Publishing Company “SunSon Records,” which supports artists and organizations in the creation of radically authentic works that defy the perceived gravity of convention.
They currently live in New Haven, CT where they are in the first year of the Sound Design MFA Program at the Yale School of Drama (’24).
