Tony Manfredonia is a Michigan-based composer and singer-songwriter, best known for his symphonic, cinematic, and dynamic sound. Providing a deep, passionate experience, his music is filled with powerful orchestration, heartfelt lyrics, and sweeping vocal lines.
His music often crosses multiple genres, but is almost always infused with a sense of orchestral power. Strings, brass, woodwinds, and massive percussion weave its way into his vocal material, as heard in his debut album Rose Water and his EP, Lost at Sea.
Tony is frequently transparent about the ups and downs of his own life journey. Rose Water delves into the difficulties presented by his wife Maria’s former chronic illness. Lost at Sea explores grief after tragically losing his father-in-law. His single, Within My Bone, with lyrics written by Maria, depicts her own feelings toward losing her dad nearly two years later.
In musically documenting his life journey, he aims to help listeners connect to their own situations and their deepest emotions.
Frequently scoring video games, Tony constructs sonic spaces and emotionally-driven tracks to enliven each game’s world. He continually has his soundtracks performed live, drawing in audiences to enjoy his music in a different light. One example is his Suite from Kharon’s Crypt, an orchestra-plus-choir medley, premiered by the WMGSO. He has composed the music for games such as Kharon’s Crypt: Even Death May Die, Call of Saregnar, The Ambassador: Fractured Timelines, EverCraft Online, and more.
Tony’s music and orchestrations have been played worldwide, from riveting chamber music, such as his piece, Snow | Wind | Ice | Tranquility — commissioned by the GVSU New Music Ensemble, to the darker tones of his first opera, Ghost Variations — premiered by the Thompson Street Opera Company — Tony embeds his compositional voice into a multitude of styles and instrumentations. He is also frequently commissioned to orchestrate the music of artists like The Accidentals, Song of the Lakes, and jazz keyboardist/composer, Bob James.
