G.A.N.G. Demo Derby

Greetings all!

Our GDC Demo Derbies are fast approaching, and its time to prepare your very best work! This is your chance to have your music, sound design, vo, or other sonic insanity critiqued by some of the sharpest ears and minds in the business. If you are planning on attending GDC this year, these panels are not to be missed, and a reason to be at GDC!

Here are the Details:

Location (room): Room 2024, West Hall

In preparation for this years Music and Sond Design derbies, please consider the following submission guidelines:

– You must be a G.A.N.G. member in order to participate (duh)

– Your name must be clearly printed on your CD/DVD and jewel case.

– Your work must be sixty (60) seconds or less. Don’t risk embarrassment by ignoring this requirement…(recorded cross-fades are fine; don’t stress!)

– Please have your work cued up to track one (1) of your CD/DVD. Due to the amount of submissions, we won’t have time to find track 6, 1:35-2:29, etc…

– You must have a GDC pass in order to participate in the Derby (not an expo-only pass…sorry!).

Submissions are first-come, first-served via a signup list placed outside the room starting at 9:00 am. We regret that the number of submissions might preclude you from being heard, so be prompt and sign up early! Contact Sean Beeson [email protected] if you have any further questions!

I look forward to seeing all of you at GDC! Also, do not forget the GANG Awards on Thursday night, followed by VGL on Friday!

GDC 2008 G.A.N.G. Meet and Greet

Greetings all G.A.N.G. members,

You are cordially invited to the G.A.N.G. Meet and Greet being held during the 2008 Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco. Regardless if you are attending the conference or not, if you are in the area you are welcome and encouraged to attend the festivities. Meet new friends, enjoy food and drink with the old, and win some cool door prizes in the G.A.N.G. Raffle!

Greetings G.A.N.G. Members,

Come join us on Thursday, February 7th, 2008 at the wonderful Dolby Theatre for the G.A.N.G. | I.E.S.D.’s first Bay Area Sound Development centric networking events. Dorian Recordings ‘Award of Excellence’

Dorian Recordings, http://www.dorian.com, a subsidiary of Sono Luminus http://www.sonoluminus.com/,
was given an ‘Award of Excellence’ at the 31st International Audio
Engineering Society Conference, in London, England using discWelder
CHROME II and SurCode MLP.

"The
purpose of the competition was to exhibit and review the finest high
resolution audio in the world. Our preferred format is DVD-A so we
wanted to make sure we entered our best music at the best quality
possible. We used the SurCode™ MLP program to pack the Linear PCM audio
into a MLP format", said Brandie Lane, Audio Engineer for Dorian.

"It
was as easy as assigning the files to the channels and pressing the
Encode button. No worries about weird settings or whether the encoder
was going to freeze."

"I had no
previous experience encoding and authoring DVDs. Both programs
(discWelder CHROME II and SurCode MLP) were so easy to use that I was
able to burn my authored DVD in a matter of minutes and I was able to
trust that all of my audio was going to be in the right channels and
sound exactly the way it would in my ProTools session."

to operate and guaranteed a high fidelity authored disc without any

VGL at Comic-Con

Video Games Live has done it again! The worlds
leading game concert series has once again pulled out all the stops in
its groundbreaking effort to show the world how artistic and culturally
significant video games have become. On Thursday, July 24th, 2008
during the opening night of Comic-Con International in San Diego, Video
Games Live will be performing its award winning show with the San Diego
Symphony at the Embarcadero Marina Park South.
