Clint Bajakian

Bio

Clint Bajakian is an award winning composer and music producer, and leader in the field of game audio since 1991. Recipient of the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Game Audio Network Guild, Bajakian has dedicated his career to the creation of groundbreaking music and sound, advancement of game audio and development of its professionals. Career highlights include work on many award winning AAA musical scores, leading the Sony PlayStation music production group from 2004-2013, managing million dollar+ music budgets, and producing orchestral scores all over the world. At Sony, Bajakian established several programs, including orchestral production and budgeting practices, planning and recording on scoring stages all over the world, asset and workflow management systems, and dramatic approaches to scoring games including adaptive music designs. Prior to Sony, Bajakian founded and led the audio production company Bay Area Sound from 2000-2004. He co-led the LucasArts audio department as composer on many titles and sound design supervisor from 1991 to 2000. In 2013, Bajakian joined Pyramind Studios in San Francisco, returning to his creative roots of music composition and passion for developing creative teams.

In 2014, Bajakian composed original music for Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, which won the 2014 Hollywood Music in Media award for Best Soundtrack for a Video Game. In 2013, Bajakian’s score to Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Sony PlayStation) won the Game Audio Network Guild award for Best Interactive Score. In 2010, Bajakian supervised recording on the celebrated soundtrack to Heavy Rain at Abbey Road Studios in London, which won the British Academy award for Best Original Score, and Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences award for Best Original Soundtrack. Bajakian served as senior music manager on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, 2009 winner of the British Academy Best Original Score, Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Best Original Soundtrack, GDC Choice Awards Best Audio, and G.A.N.G. Music of the Year. From 2004-2011, Bajakian produced the musical scores for God of War I, II and III at Sony PlayStation, all receiving awards and nominations for music, with God of War winning the AIAS Best Original Soundtrack in 2006. Bajakian’s original score to Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb (LucasArts) won four Game Audio Network Guild awards, including Music of the Year, Best Interactive Score, and Best Orchestral Recording. In 1997, Clint’s original score to the LucasArts Western shooter, Outlaws, won Outstanding Achievement in Original Music from Computer Gaming World.

Since 2000, Bajakian has been a leading speaker in game audio and is affiliated with several organizations. In 2002 he co-founded the Game Audio Network Guild and served as its first vice president, and has served on its board of directors since 2002. Bajakian served on the Steering Committee of the Interactive Audio Special Interest Group of the MIDI Manufacturer’s Association from 2002-2004. He has been a regular speaker at the Game Developers Conference since 2000, and has lectured at several universities and conferences including USC, Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, Expressions College for Digital Arts, Grammy, Society of Composers and Lyricists, MacWorld, and many more. Bajakian has served since 2009 on the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences judging panel for Best Original Soundtrack, and on the Board of Overseers for New England Conservatory since 2013.

Bajakian holds a Bachelor of Music double-degree in Classical Guitar Performance and Music Theory from the New England Conservatory, and a Master of Music degree in Music Composition from The University of Michigan. Clint resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two children.
