Letter from GANG’S VP

Dear GANG Members:

Our 10th Anniversary GANG Awards Show couldn’t have been any better and I want to congratulate my colleagues for pulling off a fantastic celebration of not only amazing achievements in interactive audio, but also the past 10 years of growth from merely an idea into the organization it is today. I look forward to the next 10 years, and am eager to see what the future holds.

This is a time of great transition for the organization. Paul Lipson, our illustrious president, will be stepping down in July and I will be stepping down as of April 1st of this year. Under the expert leadership and guidance of our Chairman, President, and Board of Directors, I leave with the knowledge that the Guild is in good hands and will continue to serve its missions and members with the highest standards of excellence, dedication and commitment.

Looking back I am proud of how far we have come as a Guild and community, while also knowing that this period will mark an exciting new beginning. I have truly enjoyed getting to know members from our ever expanding tight knit global group. Although I am leaving to pursue new opportunities I look forward to maintaining and growing the relationships and friendships I have made.

I want to express my most sincere thanks and appreciation for the opportunity to serve you for so many years. I will miss you all!

Best Wishes,
Michelle

NEW!! GANG Quarterly Challenge!

Over the last few months some ideas have been brewing, and we’re quite excited about this one.

I give credit to Borislav Slavov (Crytek) with putting this idea together and pushing it up the hill!

The Q-Challenge will be a fun new competition, open only to GANG members, where you can show off your skills and colloborate with a friend (typically 1 doing sound design and 1 doing music, or mix it up, take on a little of both, it’s up to you!)

Each challenge will be a little different in it’s theme.

GANG members will choose their favorite entries, the top 3 winners will win prizes (this first challenge is sponsored by Sound Librarian and Sound Iron!) and we will create a Q-Challenge Hall of Fame page to post our winners to.

This challenge is open to ALL members, so even if yer an industry vet, partner up with a student or apprentice and collaborate together! Are you a voice artist? Offer your services on the forum!

The first Q-Challenge theme:

2012 – The end of the world or the beginning of a new calendar?

All of the rules and dates are posted here at the forum!

IGDA Mentoring Program

Recently there have been some requests to get a mentoring program off of the ground here at GANG.

There have been various initiatives and alternative programs put into place over the years, in regards to education, but we thought we might try something new.

In talking with the IGDA we are trying out a casual partnership with IGDA using the infrastructure that IGDA has put in place to make matches with mentors and mentees in the game industry.
So you must be a member of IGDA in order to take part in their program, but GANG will help IGDA find mentors in the game audio side of the industry, once Scholrship candidates have been nominated.

Please head on over to the info page to read more about the programs in case you are interested in being a mentor OR a protege.
