Personal Info
Brian LaGuardia
Brian LaGuardia has been immersed in music from a very early age. He began piano lessons at age six, taking lessons from such talent as Juliard graduate Jamie Shaak. He has had the privilege of studying conducting under Maestro Robert Olson of the Mahlerfest Orchestra, Maestro Devin Patrick Hughes and Maestro Vincent C LaGuardia, Jr, his late father. He has had the privilege of conducting the Arapahoe Philharmonic, the Wither Without Orchestra and the Boulder Symphony. As a freelance percussionist, he has played with all of these groups, as well as the Mahlerfest Orchestra, the Colorado Wind Ensemble and the Loan Tree Orchestra.
In spite of his love for Piano, Conducting and Percussion, his first passion is composition and orchestration. His works have been performed by multiple orchestras in the Denver Metro area. While Brian loves writing for the concert hall, he is also fascinated with film, television and video games and how music can blend with these mediums to create a unique and emotional experience. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Game and Simulation Programming and three years experience as a software engineer, which rounds out his musical background with a practical knowledge of technology.
Brian is also one of twenty students selected internationally for the Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television Graduate program at USC’s Thorton School of Music. He is greatly enjoying learning the tricks of the trade and sharing the joy of music with directors, programmers and musicians alike.
In his spare time, Brian loves exploring nature, cooking and reading. He also enjoys copious amounts of movies, TV shows and video games. He love for music is matched only by a craving to be enraptured by storytelling.
“No matter how corrupt, greedy, and heartless our government, our corporations, our media, and our religious & charitable institutions may become, music will still be wonderful.” – Kurt Vonnegut
