Personal Info
Daniel Romberger
Like most great composers (Mozart, etc.), Daniel Romberger got started in music by arranging video game tunes in Mario Paint Composer when he was bored in high school. One day, he decided to compose an original piece of music in Mario Paint and thought “hey, that was fun; maybe I’ll give this composing thing a shot!”
Since then, he graduated from Binghamton University with a triple major in music and two fields that aren’t as fun as music (Economics and Actuarial Science). He then returned to Binghamton to study with Prof. Daniel Thomas Davis and recently completed a Masters in Music focusing in composition. While at Binghamton, he was fortunate enough to have numerous pieces performed by professional musicians (Anonymous 4, Yarn|Wire, Lontano Ensemble, Momenta String Quartet, Roomful of Teeth, and others!) He also composed 50 pieces that can serve video game music and use pre-existing games’ soundsets (biased towards Gen III Pokemon, because THE HORNS!!).
Daniel’s defining college experience is a student club called Explorchestra dedicated to promoting original music composed, conducted, and performed by students. Through Explorchestra, his goal was predominantly to write music that was challenging but fun to play and listen to. Unfortunately, he spent a lot of rehearsals dealing with musicians who were flummoxed by changing time signatures, but for some reason people still liked him enough to let him be president anyway.
Daniel is also an active trombone player and sings bass-baritone. His greatest accomplishment as a trombonist is winning the Binghamton battle of the bands competition in a 10-piece funk ensemble called Prime Ordeal. Of course, there was only one entrant in said battle of the bands, but everyone and my mother said Prime Ordeal destroyed the competition!
Daniel also loves to play the theremin though he hasn’t touched it in years!
