Ed Varga
Ed Varga is a San Francisco based composer, songwriter, sound designer and the owner of Tone Generator Studios. His path to becoming a collaborator with visual story tellers and other musicians has had many twists and turns. After leaving his childhood home in Wisconsin he lived in Minneapolis, Madison, New York, Olympia, Los Angeles and landed in the Bay Area in 2009. Along the way he played drums in several punk and indie rock bands, worked as a sound engineer and as a transgender man has been an active voice in the queer community. He has produced music and arts events and festivals for over 25 years, founding both Homocore Minneapolis in 1995 and Homo A Go Go (Olympia and San Francisco) in 2002 and working on iconic events such as the Transfused, Yo Yo A Go Go and Ladyfest in Olympia, WA. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music where he studied music composition for film, TV and video games. Recent collaborations have included an orchestral arrangement with the band Side Pony, recording and producing with Mya Byrne, scoring films directed by Oona Garthwaite, Peter Max Lawrence, Kolmel Love, Lane Stanley, Jay Goldstuck and creating sonic worlds for some soon to be released video games.
