Bio

KERWIN YOUNG is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame producer-member of Public Enemy’s infamous production team, “The Bomb Squad”. Kerwin Young is a prolific international concert and media composer, recording producer, multi-instrumentalist, cultural ambassador; known  for his larger-than-life  orchestral works and epic media scores . An iconic, Golden-Age Hip-Hop producer (Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Eric B. & Rakim, Mobb Deep, Luke Skywalker & the 2 Live Crew), Kerwin made his mark across multiple genres collaborating and producing for artists as George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Roy Haynes, Reginald R. Robinson, Eddie Moore; and posthumous projects for  Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix. 
 
His concert works have been performed by Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Inscape Chamber Orchestra, Music From China, Kansas City Symphony, ROCO, University City Symphony, Del Sol String Quartet, and other well-known ensembles. Composing a plethora of symphonies, ballets, chamber works, jazz big-band, small jazz ensemble, and music in other popular styles, maestro Kerwin Young  is a staunch advocate for entrepreneurship and music education.
 
Kerwin Young earned a B.M. and M.M. in music composition at the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance, where he studied with Chen Yi, Zhou Long, and Jazz Messenger legend, Bobby Watson.
